Benefit Mr. D math For Us
The most important thing is that my sons like the program and get motivated to learn more seriously as middle and high schoolers.
Mr. D Math Treats Teens to be Adult-Like Learners
This is the greatest benefit for us, I think. Well, my sons are growing into teens. They need a program that introduces them into a more mature and independent system. Since kids are not yet ready to be fully grown up learners, they also need something easy and clear to access. With Mr. D math, I found these features give us the benefits:
- Well-listed assignment with the due dates.
Kids start to be more responsible to watch out their assignment list to meet the due date. I am happy to hear that my son mention due date and how he has to finish it before the due date. Wow, he is a bit more mature. Usually I have to catch him to finish since he didn’t mind about the due date. Although it has due dates, learners can work on their own patch. It is important to give them target to do responsibly. - Self Assessment
The assessments are simple and self directed. My son can follow the assignment process easily. He is also very happy to keep his record and progress. Previously, students have limited access to the assessment record. Handling his own score list, he feels being trusted. - Conversation and News from teachers are direct
Students are updated with the news. News and letters are not going through parents, but they can handle it by themselves. When there is trouble kids can also communicate directly with teachers.
With such program that consider the learners as more adult-like, my son learns more seriously like an “adult”.
The Topics Are Discussed in Details
In Geometry, we have 12 Chapters and each chapter is separated into around 8 sub-chapters, packed with exercises, paperwork, quiz and test. Small chunks of topics are very helpful to help children work step by step. Here are typical works for each sub-chapter my sons do with Mr. D Math Geometry:
- Check his dashboard for news, group, or updates.
- Go to his class and choose his lesson.
- Print the paperwork
- Watch the online video in the lesson
- Take a note
- Do The Course Works or paperwork
- Check the solution
- Do the extra practice
- Take the 2 quizz
At the end of the chapter, he will take test.
Teens Are Socialized Virtually
My son was surprised when he can see other student profiles. He can have some acquaintance and join some groups as well. They can send message each other. He has met any program with this feature so far.
Paperwork Trains Learners to be More Skillful and Tidy
Many online maths programs that rely mainly on the online or purely computer works. Mr. D Math has paperwork sessions for each sub chapter it has. It looks that doing paperwork is something traditional, but I think There are a lot of advantages for doing maths paperwork in the online program:
- It prepares learners to do real traditional test that still uses paperworks. Well, that is what happen in Indonesia at the moment, at least.
- For certain drawing work, it is better to use traditional paperwork rather than the electronic or computerized work. Geometry needs drawing. Computerized drawing is different with the traditional drawing. Paperwork will train learners to be more skillful in technical drawing and tidy.
Additional External Links to IXL
The extra resources in the sub-chapters have link(s) to IXL Maths so that learners have more enrichments to train them using the concepts to some other problems. The more practice learners do, will prepare them for the exam better. That is a traditional view that still works until now.
Live Online Classes
We do really wish to feel the benefit for the live online classes in Mr. D Math. Unfortunately, we live in upside down time zone. It is impossible for us to take the live online classes. However, I an imagine that learners will be able to interact with the teachers and other student in the classes. It must be great for my son.
Refer to Standardized Exams: SAT and ACT
We haven’t planned to take any international exam like SAT and ACT yet. However, it is great to have my son access Mr. D Math so that we can get his benchmark to the standardized exams. The SAT and ACT preparation is done from the basic with the approach that Maths is a language. Therefore, the test preparation is not to be that scary.
