Parenting problems come up alongside the children growth and maturity of parents. What do you do to be better parents?
When you have not got married, you might think that being a mom would always make your days great. You would be able to take care of nice and cute children. You would laugh most of the time for their surprising growth and their entertaining behavior. I was very idealistic when I was not a mom.
I was very happy when I found myself being pregnant and we got our first son. I didn't imagine that bringing the first baby at home was a nightmare. That was the first time of my shocking experience being a parent. However, that experience gave me huge lessons for having the next babies. The nightmare turned into happiness.
When my son was born one by one and time after time, the facts of being a mom are not that great. Kids grow and the challenge for parents is different in each stage of their growth. Therefore, the journey of being a parent will never finish in our life.
Is It Possible to be Better Parents?
I am very sure that every parent loves children. However, will everyone be successful in realizing the wonderful dream for having nice and successful children? Will every parent be successful in parenting?
That might be too broad topic to discuss, but becoming better parents is not impossible. I believe that when we want to improve ourselves, we will achieve better result undoubtedly. We don't know when and how it will happen. Therefore, all parents should have a willingness to be better parents.
Here are some ways to be better parents:
- Learn from your parents or parents-in-law
How good and how bad they are, they are older than us. They will have more experience in their life. They might have old-fashioned thought, but there must be some wisdom you can get about parenting.
- Give examples
This is the hardest part of being a parent, I think. When we expect children to do something that we don't do, children will question.
- Joining some groups
You can update your parenting knowledge by joining some social media group about parenting. You can see how others handle several parenting cases the face. Although you don't have the same problem or situation, we never know that it will happen one day.
- Getting Closer with Children
You are parents because you have children. Therefore, the best way to be better parents is to be closer
withthem. It is not about the physical meaning. Try to make more time for them.
- Learn from the past
Learning the olden days parenting can be done through both historical and biblical readings. You can read biography books and the Scripture. Those resources will reveal the good and the bad of parenting we can learn. Those facts will give lessons for all parents.
- Read parenting blogs and books
There are several great parenting books that can give you more inspiration to educate your children. Here are some Christian Parenting books I reviewed you might want to look up:
