One issue of homeschooling children is about knowing your children's standard. Well, many parents are not confident whether their children already achieved the curriculum standard or the core or whatever it is named to measure the learners' ability. It sounds we cannot avoid comparison. Some parents even still check out what the public school students have done compared to what their children have achieved. Too much worry about being left behind have discouraged many homeschooling parents whether they are aware it or not.
Is Being Worried about Learning Gaps Wrong?
Naturally, comparing one learner to others is not a good idea since everyone has different and unique learning path. However, since the future academic requirement demands the standardization in certificate, in my opinion, it is not wrong to avoid too far learning gaps by doing some placement test. On the other hand, placement test is used to anticipate advance learning achievement so that parents can give more enrichment for children who have passed the standard.
How We Try to Anticipate The Learning Gaps in Maths
Today I am very excited to share a great interactive Maths program aimed to measure the standard of your children's math skills. Adaptive Placement Test is quite different from other interactive program is since it emphasizes the mathematical skill measurement. I receive the product for free, but I am compensated for my time. All opinions are honest and I am not required to post a positive review.
Next academic year we are planning to homeschool our youngest son. He is going to be pulled out of the public school. Therefore, we are preparing for it. One preparation we are doing is finding out which level of learning he is staying at so that we will know where is going to start with. Mathematics is one crucial subject we need to prepare. That's why I was very happy to be able to use Adaptive Placement Test for him. During the last 2 months he has already finished about 80% of his Grade 2 exams. By using this program I think I know what to do with him for the coming academic year.
At the same time, my second son is also going to join a national standardization exam this year. He is a kind of a maths hater. We never take maths lessons seriously. I have been very worried how he can do his Maths exam. To anticipate the material he has been left behind in maths, I try to use the Adaptive Placement Test by A Plus Tutor Soft as well. Using the program, he could review the concept he has missed out so far after doing the test. Some videos explaining the related missed out materials are available for this purpose.
Are you concerned that your student may have learning gaps in Math?
I think it is normal when we feel concerned about the learning gaps in Math since Math is a skill subject. When a learner misses math concepts, it will be difficult for him or her to step further to a more complicated one. That's why identifying and closing learning gaps in Math can be solved with this 3-month comprehensive program! Math Placement Test with Lessons program is the most comprehensive program with multi-grade level “adaptive” testing to identify student's current skill level. It then creates an “individualized” lesson plan to target problem areas with everything included. This is great for any student regardless of what Math curriculum you are using and your skill level.
