Our Homeschool Curriculum 2017-2018 has the upper elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum, especially for Indonesian homeschool curriculum

Our Homeschool Curriculum 2017-2018 has the upper elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum, especially for Indonesian homeschool curriculum. We are a year round homeschooling family, which means we homeschool all year with some few breaks around. Well, we start whenever we want and finish as fast as we can in a year. However, we still follow the academic year as the public school, although we can start anytime without following the exactly formal school time. Today we want to share our homeschool curriculum 2017-2018. This is an annual post I write year by year while my sons are growing.

Here are some posts I have from the previous years:

I didn't post before those years, but you might ask me personally if you are curious about what we used. I will try to answer my best.

Our Homeschool Background 2017-2018

Before I share our homeschool curriculum 2017-2018, I would like to inform that this year we have a 10th, 9th, and 5th graders. Well, in Indonesia, Year 10 is included into the first year of high school, year 9 belongs to the last year of the middle school, and year 5 is the second last year of the elementary school. In other words, we have 1 high schooler, 1 middle schooler, and 1 elementary schooler.

Our High School Homeschooling This Year

We finally to decide to homeschool our children through the end of high school. At least, it is for our oldest son. I told you that it is not an easy decision to homeschool through the high school.

The Crafty Classroom

Since high school is the last level of the academic years, we HAVE TO follow most of the government standard to pass the final exam and to enter the college more easily. Therefore, we adopt some traditional school at home for our oldest son. However, it is not easy to just let go other favorite subjects and classical things we have been doing for 7 years. Therefore, we still do together some classical subjects such as the world history and classical readings which are not common in our country.

Our Middle School Homeschooling This Year

This is the last year of the middle school year for our second son. He has to join the middle school final exam on May 2018. Therefore, we will just do the normal schooling for one semester. In the second semester, which will be 2018, we will be doing exam preparation with him.

Our Elementary Level Homeschooling This Year

Our youngest son is in his third year in homeschool journey. He has been adapted with the homeschool world well. He tends to go on more classical learning as the others did.

Our Homeschool Curriculum 2017-2018

After reading our homeschool background 2017-2018, you will understand why we use the set of curriculum bellow:

Our Homeschool Curriculum 2017-2018

Math

We have a huge adaptation with the Indonesian math curriculum after using the Singaporean Math Series. Now he is using

Matematika SMA/MA Wajib Kls. X/K13N

Matematika SMA/MA Kls. X/K13N – Peminatan

Those are our spines which are based on the Indonesian curriculum.

Since we find the explanations are confusing, we use online supplement:

CTC Math, which is very affordable for our family at the moment.

SCIENCE

Start from grade 10, a student should choose one between 2 options: Science or Social Major. That is quite hard, actually. However, we just follow what the regulation states. Our son choose the Science Major, so he has to study physics, chemistry, and biology.

Physics

Our Spine: Fisika SMA Kelas X, But we use some additional resource from other sites

Chemistry

Our Spine: Kimia SMA Kelas X. Chemistry is really fascinating with some resources we purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers.

Biology

Our Spine: Biologi SMA Kelas X, However, I purchased some resources from Teachers Pay Teachers because the explanation is more thorough and easier to comprehend for our son.
