Being Worried of Homeschooling High School

Homeschooling high school children are often worrying. The growth of your baby into teenagers has often made many parents nervous and worried. At the same time, the academic demand of the high school education is usually another issue. Even parents who have homeschooled their children from the first time of their school ages might still be nervous to continue the children's high school level. It is normal since homeschooling parents who have high school leveled children usually have left their high school a long time ago. They might have forgotten about their own high school.

I feel the same thing. It is hard to be confident towards having high schoolers in our homeschool. They are not high school yet, but in two years they will be high schoolers. Here are some points that make me have a headache

Worrying Problems in Homeschooling High School

Thinking about homeschooling itself still gives me unfinished worries, but homeschooling high school children is like the climax of the academic worry. Many homeschooling parents have graduated their homeschooled children from high school, but I cannot believe that now it is my turn to homeschool high school children.

Assessment: Grades, GPA, Credits

If you have passed the high school level a long time ago like me, you might have forgotten what they are. I have forgotten anything about this. Oh no.... My children really have forced me indirectly to touch these components in High school and college assessments.

Being a homeschooling mom of high school children, I need to review and learn again about the assessment system in high school. I believe that one country might be different from others in terms of policy, but my country has those terms.

Reports: Transcripts

A transcript is a summary of the recording of scores. It has different forms in every country. Even in my own country, one city might have different forms from others. For me, the essence oftranscript is the recording summary thatgive reports to know the capability of children in continuing the next step of education in the college. In my country, each stage of education in the formal school will require a transcript of the previous education stages.

Talking about recording, I am very happy to have some electronic planner to help me recording what needs to be put in the transcript. Recently, I am working on the Homeschool Planet

Socialization

Well, most of public or private school graduates will have impressive memory during the high school ages. When you went to the public or private school in the past, you might do some reunion with your old friends. My mom also loves reunion a lot and asked me what happen with her homeschooled grandchildren in the future. The might not have any experience of reunion. At the same time, some questions about prompt night are often asked. Well, another socialization problem is reviewed again.

In the beginning of homeschooling, we have been thinking about the children socialization in homeschooling and when they are going to be highschoolers, the same problem turns up again.

Once again, our children don't live only in a still community. They are surrounded by several communities, but the most important thing is the family and relative relationships.

Curriculum: What must be covered?

Every country hasdifferent standard. It is very urgent that you go or browse the curriculum requirementor at least the exam requirements. Following the requirement ofexam is quite hard for me. After the freedom of learning we have, we will finally obey the curriculum. Anyway, that is what we need to do when we choose to join the exam.

Besides, one thing about curriculum, I am worried when I cannot follow their learning due to my academic limit. I am thinking of what I can do when I cannot teach my children.

Electives and Specialization

In my country, students have to choose specialized area of learning when they go to high school education. This is also exciting for me and the children themselves. In the high school age levels, they should have got some interest of study. Although what they choose today will not the only guide and standard for their next real life work, we need to help children to choose the area of interest. It can be confusing, I think. However, Before I step to the level, We often have a chat of what they think about their interest of study. This is the beauty of homeschooling. We know the children better since we work together every day.

Preparing for Exams and College

Beyond those things above, I feel really worried whether my children can follow the exams and whether they are going to be accepted in the university. The worry will not end. I still have to learn along with them and accompany them to face the reality that they have to be preparedwith the exams and college admission.
