Some fights caused by the administration matters are not uniquely homeschooling mom. It often happens in other organization as well. However, some matters of administration in homeschooling communities, support groups, or coops can break down an organization.
Here are some organizational matters that can lead into fights:
There are a lot of leadership issues that can lead into misunderstanding and even to a critical fight.
There should be a clear regulation or policy about money in any organization, both official and not official.
- Documentation and Assets
Not clear policy about assets and documentation will make fights as well
Personal Prestige and Imaging
The existence of social media that enable people to post status, images, and videos often leads homeschooling mom fights as well. Some people like to post status of children’s learning progress and activities, but other homeschooling moms will misunderstand it as personal prestige and imaging. They will talk behind the person. Sooner or later, it will lead to fights or unhealthy association.
I would like to suggest people not to be involved in others’ personal things. For me myself, I post children’s activities regularly to make them memories. Facebook let me see the old memory yearly. It will remain me to the stages of my children. It will make me feel thankful more.
There are a lot of attacks toward homeschooling moms, especially from people who have got negative opinions toward homeschooling. It is not always easy to keep calm handling the emotion facing homeschooling issues. When homeschooling moms are too enthusiastic to response toward those issues, they might sound like homeschool promotion.
I did similar things when I started homeschooling. I tried hard to say something good about homeschooling when someone tried to “attack”. In the end, it sounds that I was promoting homeschool. In fact, I didn’t want to promote anything that sounds commercial.
Establishing homeschooling support groups, community, or coops is not easy. It demands homeschool moms to be consistent in each of the activity. It often happens that one by one of the homeschooler resign or participate inconsistently. Some moms might work harder than others. It will go to miscommunication that leads to misunderstanding.
