What a very wonderful weekend. I just tweak the workbox planning and system slightly from what we have done. Here are some changes we made start from last week.
First of all, I change my planning format. In the form, there are subject column to make sure I cover all areas of learning we are doing.
Next, the group time lessons are more flexible. I decide which one is the group time that need to do together, like shared reading in literature time, bible, and history? Then, they might decide which one they would like to explore first. It seems for children that I offer some daily menu and they can decide which one that they want to eat first. At the same time, I stand by to help them in case they need or not clear about certain things.
At the end of the day, usually after dinner, they put out all of the things inside the workbox while I provide them with materials we are using the next day. Then, they number their daily assignment planner, other than the group time subjects. The group time subjects are always on the early numbers. After that, they load their workbox based on their plan. They sharpen pencils and provide themselves with pencils, eraser, pen, and ruler.
Here is the way they use their workboxes. After the group lessons, they finish each box in sequence. Everytime they finish one box, they paste the box number on a laminated card so we know that the box has been finished and I can check it.
It is nice to see them working faster and more responsible. On the other hand, I can help them individually much better.
