Last Sunday we had an invitation from our dear homeschooling buddy to take part in a pizza cooking class. Although my children are gluten free, we didn’t want to miss this event. They used to like pizza. Moreover, by attending this event, we didn’t only learn about pizza things, but we also met many people.
We were very glad to see Corrado Scaglione the chef, Paolo Surace the pizza acrobat, and Stefano Auricchio the director. All of them are from The True Neapolitan Pizza Association (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, AVPN) They were really friendly and professional.
First of all, Stefano explained about the history of pizza, especially Napoli Pizza. Next Corrado explained the ingredients of pizza, which was continued by Paolo kneading the dough.
Before making their own pizza, everyone had a chance to practice how to handle the dough. Stefano helped anybody who wanted to practice. Some practice dough was prepared in the room.
Next, all people who had been registered had their time making their own pizza. All dough and topping were prepared by the restaurant. Participants learnt how to flatten the dough, put some topping, and put the pizza in the brick oven. When the pizza had finished, we ate them together.
The event was closed by an acrobatic pizza making accompanied by a song done by Paolo Surace. Although it was super hot in front of the brick oven which is not using any air con, everybody was very excited and happy.
Thank you very much Osteria Antica Restaurant, Surabaya for holding this event. Thank you Stefano, Corrado, and Paolo for your patience in guiding everyone with the pizza. Even my children can enjoy it a lot. Thank you my homeschool buddy who had passed the invitation.
