Last Tuesday was a public holiday here. We started our mid semester break on Friday until Tuesday. We went to Taman Safari2 (Safari Park), Pandaan on Sunday. It is the second Indonesian animal conservatiorium, opened for public and recreation. It was very lucky that the trip to the location didn't have any traffic jam. We departed from our house at 06:30AM and arrived on the location at 08:30AM. We had 30 minutes having breakfast. There was a long queue of cars in front of the ticket booth. The park was just opened at 09:00AM.
Our first activity was the safari adventure we drove around the Safari park where some wild animals walking around the park. It was like a zoo, but most of the animals were released and freed to walk around. Visitors were not allowed to open the car windows or get out of the car. I took these pictures behind the car glass window. This is the second visit to the park. We enjoyed watching around the animals for one hour.
Our second activity was riding flying over train around the Safari Park. There were just five of us and other 2 visitors in the train. We passed a dark tunnel with some miniatures of world famous landmarks, historical sites, and periods. Kids were very surprised with some dinosaurs with their red sparkling eyes moving their heads. There were also some mummies and gladiators. Going out of the tunnel, we could see the scenery of the park bellow us.
Finished with the train, we wandered around the park and found some interesting objects. We saw some photo booths to take alive picture with some baby animals. We also went to a mini bird park and talked about the information of the birds on the boards. There were also some animal show stages which were still empty as the shows were not yet started. We enjoyed some short historical and mythical stories of animals like Bengala Tiger and White Tiger.
Finally, the animal shows were started. The first show was “Last Home For Sumatran Elephant”. It was a 30 minutes drama of elephant hunting in Sumatran Jungle. The drama showed how the elephants capture the hunters using some well trained action so that further hunting could be prevented. At the end of the show, audiences had a chance to take a picture with the elephants, feed the elephants with some vegetables, and purchase a t-shirt painted by the elephant. Of course we saw how the elephant painted.
The next show was entitled “The Jungle Boy”. It was a comedian drama inspired by “Tarzan”. This show exposed some house pets and orangutan in action saving the jungle boy. At the end of the show, audience had a chance to take a picture with the orangutans. Ken and Jim took pictures, but Tom was scared by the orangutan.
From Taman Safari, we went straightly to my hometown, Malang. It was another 1.5 hour drive. We really enjoyed this holiday.
