Summer holiday is not always great for a vacation. There is a lot of chance when a family doesn't have any vacation. There are a lot of activities children can do during the summer holiday outside the vacation. What about with parents? Will summer be a time when parents become a slave for their children in summer? Oh, no…. it should be a time when parents can do more things for themselves in the summer holiday. Here are some summer activities for homeschool parents that you can do.
Summer Activities for Homeschool Parents
This is what I do regularly. Summer is always the biggest time for cleaning up the house. I will not be able to spend as long time as summer for cleaning up my house. It seems that I have left my house for a long time. That's right, I don't usually clean up in details other than summer. It is great when kids are helping.
Homeschooling is sometimes very exhausting and I need more recharge for this. Getting connected with some homeschooling buddies is a must in this time. Getting burnt out often happens during the spring and summer since it is nearly the end or the end of most school academic year. In the summertime, you can do some more reflection about what you have done to make better homeschooling time in the next year. Get relax and break for a while to recharge your energy.
Having Some Dates
The summer activities are not crowded, so I have more time to have some dates with each of my son and my husband. What a great moments they are. Going to the cinema, hometown, and any fun place have refreshed us a lot to welcome the new school year. I hope that children will get a good memory about this when they grow up later.
Planning … Planning…. and planning. It sounds very hard, but once I have finished this activity, I feel very released. I always plan for one whole year for our homeschooling. I don't care whether I can do what I have planned later on or the planning just remains a story. To confess, I rely so much on planning in our homeschooling. With planning, I can do my other works later on without being panic and confused whether we have covered enough things. Well, I learn a lot year by year from the yearly planning.
Summer means shopping time for me. I do both the online and offline shopping. There is a lot of summers and back to school discounts that I can use to save the money in the next year of schooling and housing. It is not shopping for my personal needs actually, but it is shopping for my children's need. I look up my list of their clothes, school, and daily needs more detail. It doesn't mean that I don't do shopping at other time, but summer just gives me more time to do so. It is like welcoming the new year, but it is more focused on the academic needs.
One big job for me every summer is to drop children to their local summer programs or activities. What about you? Do you drop your children to more places in the summer holiday? It is a boring and tiring activity. Therefore, I try to get some things to do while I am waiting for them finished either at home or in the activity place. I love reading and writing. Those are things I do while waiting for them to finish.
Helping or Giving Instruction to Children
Children love to have some activities during the summer time, but it is still hard for them to run the activities independently. An adult needs to supervise them. That is one of my activities. This year they take an online art lesson, Celebrate Summer: Mixed Media Workshop for Children. They enjoy it so much. I am also glad to see them busy with their art projects.
Doing Some Personal Treatment
It is great for me to have time for working out and to have more time with some hair and face treatment. I am not a fan of physical and beauty treatment, but by doing so I feel I have given some reward for myself. What about you? Do you do regular personal treatments or just the seasonal like me? Trying to get more relaxing activities will prepare homeschooling parents for the next academic year better.
Fixing My Blog
If you were bloggers like me, summer might be the right time for you to have some breaks or on the other hand, it is the time to catch up with your work. There are many areas in my blog that I need to fix. I don't have much time to work other than in the summertime.
Doing Some Courses
When the kids are having some summer programs, I also reward myself with some courses to refresh my mind and to extend my knowledge. Here are several courses you might want to look up
More time in the summer will be great for more intensive work out to get healthier and fresher to start the not back to school time. In addition, you will be stronger with better performance in doing other physical activities.
